Organizing Bodies: CRSA and CRS
China Rescue & Salvage Association
China Rescue & Salvage Association (CRSA) is a non-profit professional
organization established in 1983, working to promote the exchange
of information in rescue, salvage, marine and diving engineering,
rules, education and safety. Through publications, conferences, professional
committees, CRSA serves as an industry forum and platform for scientists,
engineers, directors and administrators to exchange information and
coordinate activities on important public and technical issues which
are common concerns and to build long-term and professional relationship
in the rescue & salvage community. It has 107 full members who
provide maritime rescue & salvage, diving or other underwater
technology services, as a substantial or integral part of their business.
China Rescue & Salvage
China Rescue & Salvage (CRS) is the sole national professional
rescue & salvage organization in China. It provides emergency
response to maritime accidents that occur in Chinese Waters, carrying
out live-saving at sea, salvage of vessels and property in distress,
maritime fire-fighting, elimination of spilled oil on the sea. It
also has safety-ensuring responsibilities for maritime transportation
and offshore resource explorations. At the same time, it performs
on behalf of the Chinese government international obligations under
relevant international conventions and bilateral maritime agreements.
After sweeping reform and development over the past
few years, CRS is now growing into an indispensable force in Chinese
Waters and an important component in China’s National Emergency Response
System. It is also playing an active role in the International Lifeboat
Federation (ILF) and the International Salvage Union (ISU).
The city of Kunming
Kunming, situated in central Yunnan in China’s southwest,
has a unique array of fascinating eco-tourist resources: mountains
and glaciers covered by snow all year round, lakes and hot springs,
alpine landscapes, primeval temperate woodland, and tropical rain
forests. Known as the City of Spring, the city is embraced by the
rich verdure of trees and plants throughout the year, and enjoys world
recognition for its abundance of camellias, orchids, azaleas and Primula
malacoides. The city of kunming is also a renowned historical and cultural
city. Its Stone Forest is known as the ' First Wonder of the World
‘.
From Kunming it is very convenient to go to Dali, Lijiang
and Shangri-la, all of them world-famous tourist attractions.
Dali is a city of rich historic heritage and a national
key scenic spot area. Visitors can admire there historic relics, natural
scenery, and exotic nationality customs. The historic relics include
the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple which are the symbol of the
ancient culture in Dali. Among the scenic spots are the beautiful
Erhai Lake, the expansive and lofty Cangshan Mountains, and the charming
Butterfly Spring.
Lijiang, also known as the Li River, meanders on the
Northwest Yunnan Plateau. Lijiang boasts of breath – taking natural
beauty and wonders such as the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (Yulong Xueshan),
the Tiger Leaping Gorge ( Hutiaoxia ), the Grand Canyon, and Lugu
Lake. It is also the cultural cradle of the Matriarchy of the Yongning
Mosuo ethnic minority. The Old Town part of the city is referred to
by European and American tourists as the Oriental Venice.
“Shangri-la” is a Tibetan word, which means “land of sacredness and
peace”. Even Today, Shangri-la remains an untainted natural paradise
of a mysterious and bewitching quality. Three snow-capped mountains
- Meili, Baimang and Haba - tower magnificently over the landscape,
crisscrossed by the Jinsha (Golden Sand) and Lancang (Mekong) rivers
which are flanked by overhanging cliffs. Snowy peaks form a huge backdrop
whose beauty is a feast to behold.
