The third China International Rescue & Salvage Conference was commenced in Kunming---the city of spring from 4th-6th, Sep, 2006. Themed as “Life, Property & Environment Saving in 21st Century”, it gathered 273 scholars, distinguished guests and exhibitors from home and abroad. The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Communication Xu Zuyuan delivered his congratulation by letter, Counselor of the State Council Shan Chunliang, International Life-saving Association President Rolf Westestrom and Secretary Gerry Keeling delivered speeches respectively.
    Centering upon the theme of “Life Saving, Property Recovery & Environmental Protection”, deputies present on the conference talked about such key issues as International Lifeboat Federation’s assisting in the development of the Asian-Pacific region rescue capability, life-saving in a stormy situation, typical rescue & salvage cases, deep diving technology, technologically-advanced rescue & salvage equipments as well as the application of computing techniques in the rescue & salvage and diving projects. 28 deputies of China and foreign countries delivered excellent speeches and foreign rescue & salvage experts made introductions on “AS 28 model” nuclear submarine rescue and “Kursk” nuclear submarine salvage project. 12 theses were rated as outstanding and the “Prize for Excellent Contribution to China Rescue & Salvage” was set up. The Director of Government Flying Service of HKSAR Bi Yaoming was awarded the prize. During this conference, exhibitions were held to popularize the new technologies, products, and rescue & salvage equipments.
